Nature, Cycling, and Finding America. An author's blog to continue the adventures begun in Stories of the Road (Inkwater Press 2009), a fictional bicycle tour of America set during the 1976 Bicentennial Summer and interwoven with Native American lore, pioneer history, and environmental accounts. This blog will provide readers, book clubs, and other persons interested in the novel with supplemental information, photographs, videos, and audio recordings relating to the places and topics covered in the book. In addition, this blog will provide a place for people to share resources and ideas on the environment, outdoor recreation, history, and Americana generally; and to explore how the appreciation and enjoyment of nature can further environmental action. While Stories of the Road focuses on the Pacific Northwest, Northern Rocky Mountains, Great Plains, and Great Lakes Region, this blog, "Marie Sansone. Nature, Cycling, and Finding America," is broader in scope, addressing environmental and outdoors-related subjects generally. This blog provides citations and links to numerous books, websites, blogs, and forums on bicycle-touring, outdoor recreation, American history and culture, natural history, and environmental conservation. It will be updated at least once every three weeks.
